I have been a makeup artist for as long as I can remember.

I have sat in front of hundreds of women, brush in hand, and watched them apologise for their skin before I had even started. Too many lines. Too much redness. Too uneven. They would say it with a kind of quiet resignation, as if they had simply accepted that this was just what their skin did now.

But the one who stayed with me was my mum.

I watched her spend years going from counter to counter, shade to shade, product to product. Everything either turned orange, settled into her lines by mid-morning, or sat on top of her skin like a mask. She would look in the mirror and say it was just her skin. That she was too old for foundation to look right on her anymore.

I knew that was not true. I knew it was never her skin. It was always the formula.

The beauty industry built foundations for young, oily skin and handed them to everyone else. Women over 45 were left using products that were never made with them in mind, and quietly blaming themselves when those products failed.

I could not accept that. So I created Aurase.
